Our Avonside church was damaged in the 4 September 2010 earthquake.  After that, plans were made to repair the damage.  The 22 February 2011 quake finished off the 1876 chancel, substantially damaged the 1912 nave, and significantly damaged the 1913 building that housed the Parish Hall. Major question marks now hang over the future direction of the parish.  Watch here for the vicars updates on the situation

2 September 2011:  The Parish Hall has now been demolished.  Looks like the church deconstruction may follow soon.

July 2011: Church Property Trustees report that Engineers say it is too dangerous to attempt to recover the west gable stained  glass windows.

14 June:  More damage has occurred to the church and hall.  South side stained glass windows lost, the western ones remain. The chancel roof has completely fallen, while the nave roof still stands.  Much of the stone outer walls have now fallen.  More updates later.
