From the Grapevine 27 Feb 2010

We had set down this Sunday to  remember and celebrate the consecration of Holy Trinity Avonside as a way of looking forward to and anticipating  the rebuilding of our church.

The plans and costings for this had arrived from the engineer in recent days.  However, events have overtaken all this as the church has now been damaged beyond the point of repair.  For that matter the hall, where we have been worshipping, also appears to have been damaged to very major extent.

So in this new and unexpected situation today’s anniversary celebration takes on a new poignancy, and invites us to think deeply about the most essential reason why the parish exists.  It also raises interesting questions about the kind of rebuilding and the type of church we might wt in the future.
