 Worship

As with any faith community, regular worship is our foundation. At the heart of our services is the Eucharist; it is the celebration of this that provides the basis and rhythm of all parish activity. As such, we provide a number of services ranging from the traditional to the more modern, from the regular full eucharist to occasional evensongs. Below is a list of the upcoming opportunities for worship at Holy Trinity Avonside.

 Regular Services

Every Sunday there are two different services available. At 8:00am, there is a quiet, peaceful and reflective service using the special beauty of the 1928 NZPB liturgy. Then, at 9:30am, there is a Parish Eucharist, a modern sung setting taken from the New Zealand Prayer Book and featuring a wide range of hymns. This service is suitable for all ages and children are always very welcome.

In the St. Francis chapel on Tuesdays to Saturdays (inclusive), Hugh says morning prayer at 9:00am and, subject to occasional variations for parish business, evening prayer at 4:30pm. All are welcome to join him.

Every Thursday, Holy Communion is held at 10:30am in the St. Francis Hall. On the first and third Wednesdays of each month, Holy Communion is held at 10:30am in the main lounge at Fitzgerald House, and, every second and fourth Sunday of the month, evensong is held at 6:00pm, also in the main lounge.
Occasionally, there is a sung evensong held in the Church, with a shared meal to follow.
